On the 6th of April 2023, I was invited by Mr. Tsuchiya, the president of the TAMC ( the oldest surviving magic club in Japan ), to lecture and share my magic with the club. Before my lecture there were presentations from some of the TAMC members who presented truly amazing, impressive and unique magic and definitely some things I have never seen or are likely to see again. The presentations were given by Mr. T. Makihara, Mr T. Tazawa and Mr. Y Kiga and all were very impressive. I was also gifted some artefacts and souvenirs that I will absolutely treasure and at some point in the future I will share some of the brilliant thinking behind these.
My presentation on techniques of close-up magic, stage and parlour magic and techniques of mentalism and mind reading was very well received and I could have spoken and exchanged thoughts and ideas on these principles for twice or three times longer than I had the time to.
If there was one thing I learned best and most clearly, is that there is never enough time and also that I have so much to share and to teach and so little time to do it! As an extension of this, I know that my lecture will have a lasting impact in varying degrees upon those who were there and experienced it. How do I know this? Because the exchanges and what I witnessed from the attendees and my hosts will stay with me and gave me so much as well! The exchange of ideas for the overall betterment of the craft and peoples individual experiences is of almost inestimable value. I will make a more concerted effort in the near future to schedule more presentations to the magic community.
My lecture to the TAMC was a great experience and it was a brilliant cross cultural exchange of magic and ideas.
I hope to return to Japan, very soon.
